Midnight in Paris – A Movie That Will Take You Back in Time

Midnight in Paris is one of my all time favourite movies. I first watched it back in 2011 when it first appeared and I fell in love with it. Today I watched it again and I still found it as amazing as the first time.

I love everything about this movie: the music, the characters, the actors, the decor, the scenery. Everything is so beautiful and magical that it makes you fall in love with the life back then and even life now.

I’ve been to Paris before and the way the film portrays it, does it justice. The intro of the movie it’s just perfect. All those shots from around Paris and the music just make you feel like you’re a part of the magic that Paris possesses.

If you like the literature and art or just the atmosphere of the 20’s you will find this movie perfect to  have a taste of that era.

If you are not at all familiar with this film here’s a little synopsis of it. Midnight in Paris tells the story of an American writer, Gil Pender, who is in Paris with his fiance. As one night strolls on the street of Paris, he is took back to the 20’s, when a car stops and he gets in. On his adventure he meets The Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Ernest Hemingway and many others.

I’ll stop here and let you find the rest of the story.

I could go on and on about why this movie is so extraordinary, but I will just say this. If you want to see a wonderful movie, with great actors (Marion Cotillard is incredible in it), spectacular decor and costumes and good music, this is a film you should see.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight – A Book for the Summer

One of my favourite books is one I bought some time ago from Germany, while I was travelling and is called The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The book tells the story of a young girl, well a teenager, who has to fly from the US to London, for his father wedding. Of course, she doesn’t want to. She misses her flight and, call it faith or chance, but at the airport she meets a boy, who happens to also fly to London and has his seat next to her.

Yes, it is a love story, but it isn’t your normal love story (or at least I don’t think so).  The whole book takes place in more or less 36 hours and it has a lot of things happening in such little time that you don’t have time to get bored.

All in all, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Time is one of my favourite books and I recommend it to anyone who wants an easy read this summer. However if you find the plot interesting, but you’re not into reading, there’s a film coming out soon so you could wait for that.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book:

“It’s not the changes that will break your heart; it’s that tug of familiarity.”

“Love is the strangest, most illogical thing in the world.”

“He’s like a song she can’t get out of her head. Hard as she tries, the melody of their meeting runs through her mind on an endless loop, each time as surprisingly sweet as the last, like a lullaby, like a hymn, and she doesn’t think she could ever get tired of hearing it.”

Five Youtubers You Should Check Out

You already know I’m obsessed with TV shows, so I guess it’s time for you to know that I am also obsessed with YouTube and YouTubers. Okay, maybe “obsessed” is a strong word… Let’s just say I just really really like watching YouTube videos. That is why I decided to share with you five of my favourite YouTubers.

1. Blimey Cow

Their content is entertaining, interesting and talks about important topics in a funny and open-minding way. They want to “inspire laughter, community, and great conversation, while encouraging critical thought on important topics.”  and personally, I think they’re doing a great job!!

2. Megan MacKay

She is better known for her makeup tutorials (which are not any ordinary makeup tutorials, but they actually have a message behind it). She is really funny and you gotta love her irony and sarcasm.

3. iiSuperwomanii

I remember watching her first video. I was having a really bad day and I watched Girls on their period and it made laugh so hard!! Ever since, I can’t get enough of her videos! Oh, but her videos are more than funny, they’re also uplifting and meant to make you feel better about yourself. She is amazing!!

4. SoulPancake

Okay, this channel is my source of inspiration for being a better person. This channel is all about showing the beautiful face of the world.

5. grav3yardgirl

She does make up tutorials and hair tutorials and test as seen on TV products, all of it in a very funny and sassy way.

Top Five Favourite Teen Movies

Usually Sunday is the day when I lay in bed all day long and watch movies. Yesterday was the exception since I was busy with other things, however I did manage to watch a movie late at night. My movie list is somewhat endless and it always takes me a lot of time to decide which film to watch.

Yesterday  I decided for The First Time and yes, it is a teen movie, but most people were going on and on and on about how good the movie is  that I had to watch it.

Now, I am sucker for sappy romantic movies, but this one seemed so terrible. As much as I tried to find something about this film that I liked, I just couldn’t. Then I realised why that might be. I am not a teenager anymore and I guess teen movies do not appeal to me anymore the way that when I was, well, a teenager.

However this made me think about the movies that I watched as a teenager so I decided to make a top five of my favourites. So here we go.

1. A Cinderella Story

jBKyYvVOaOg.movieposter

I think I watched this movie at least five times. I was obsessed with it and any other Hilary Duff movie for that matter.

2. Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging

This movie was the death of me. I forced my friends to watch it with me every time I got the chance.

3. LOL (Laughing Out Loud) – The French Version

Another movie that I watched God knows how many times.

4. She’s the Man

This man seemed so badass at the time. Plus it has Channing Tatum in it.

5. Wild Child

Honestly I can’t remember why I liked this movie so much, but I totally did.

Which was your favourite movie as a teenager?

The 100

I found this TV show by chance and I wasn’t sure if I should watch it or not, but I decided to give it a try and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

It’s been a while since I enjoyed a TV show as much as I enjoyed The 100. I just couldn’t stop watching it I got so addicted to it.

The 100 is basically about a post apocalyptic world, where Earth is thought to be inhabitable and the only humans alive live in space. However, after 97 years of living on a spaceship, the prisoners of it are sent on Earth to see if life is possible on it. And so the story starts…

I don’t feel like I should blab more about the plot of the show, but I will say that if you are into fantasy and fiction and post apocalyptic worlds you should totally see this, because this is, hands down, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I am totally looking forward to new season!

Tv Series You Have To Watch

Hi! My name is Alex and I’m addicted to tv series. And films. And maybe even books. But, today I’m here to talk to you about some of my favourite tv series. It was hard to choose because I watch tons of them and they’re pretty good, or else I wouldn’t watch them. Right?

So with no further ado here are 5 tv series you have to watch:

1. Supernatural

Do I really need to say why?

2.Friends

Again, do I really have to say why? Who doesn’t love Friends?!

3. The Newsroom

This might be one of the best tv series I have ever seen! (Maybe because I’m a Journalism student…)

4. Once Upon A Time

I’ve always liked fairytales and this show gives you a whole new perspective on all the fairytales you loved as a kid, with an interesting plot and beautiful characters. What more could you want? I mean you can’t even stay mad at the villans!!

5. The Office

You know it’s one of the greatest shows ever made and if you think otherwise you’re just lying to yourself.

Of course there are other tv series I recommend with all my heart like SHERLOCK!!!, Grimm, Lie to Me, and you could add up some more, but I’ll just leave it like this. I don’t want to seem like I don’t have a life..*sweats nervously* But, seriously, I don’t.

Life After Beth

I’ve wanted to see this movie for a while now and last night I finally got the chance to do it. And I was disappointed…

It’s true that the reason why I wanted to see it was Aubrey Plaza and because of its recommendation, but somehow I still had high expectations for the movie. Don’t know why…

The story is basically this: Beth goes hiking and dies. Everybody is sad and depressed (especially her ex-boyfriend). Beth comes back from the death. She doesn’t know she died. Everybody is happy she is back (especially her ex-boyfriend). She is now a zombie. Other people come from the death too (as zombies). The apocalypse starts. Beth is going full-on zombie and eats her father. Her boyfriend kills her and the apocalypse is over in less than 24 hours.  Ta daaaa! The movie is over!

Now the actors weren’t necessarily terrible, they did their job. But I think the plot was terrible and if anything this should’ve been like a 30 minutes long movies.  I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

I’m still rooting for Aubrey Plaza and I truly hope to see her in some great movies from now on.

Also, Anna Kendrick was in it for some reason…

Life_After_Beth_poster

Anyways… I gave this movie two out of ten stars on IMDB, mostly because of the actors.

10 Reasons Why Roadtrips Are A Good Idea

It’s holiday season (at least in my country) and there are so many things to do, so many places to see and so many options on how to do that. I know many people prefer to travel by plane, but personally I think that the best way to visit a country is by taking a roadtrip.

1

Here are 10 reasons why.

1. Economy

Roadtrips are cheaper especially if you travel with all your friends and “split the bill”.

2. Flexibility

Roadtrips allow you to stop whenever you want, wherever you want and as often as you want, whether you want to visit something or just take a break from the road.

3.  Adventure

Roadtrips should be seen as an adventure because that’s what they are. Something exiciting is always going to happen and you’re always going to learn something new.

3

4. Spontaneity

Spontaneity goes hand in hand with flexibility. As I mentioned before, roadtrips allow you to be flexible, which allows you to be more spontaneous and visit that place your friend told you about or just drink coffee in a town you’ve never been to before.

5. Time

When you’re with your car you don’t really have a schedule. You can make one but it’s not necessary to strictly follow it.

6. Space

Another advantage that roadtrips have, is the fact that you can pack more than you can if you’re travelling by plane or by train.

7. Bonding experience

Roadtrips are the perfect way to bond with your friends or with your family. When you’re in the same car with the same people for hours, it’s impossible not to bond in a way or another.

8. Camping

By camping I don’t strictly mean putting up your tent, but also to those little motels that you find by chance and you just fall in love with.

2

9. Destination

One thing that you must remember when it comes to roadtrips that it’s not about the destination but the journey.

10. Sense of achievement

At the end of a roadtrip no matter how long or short you will always feel like you have achieved something, like you learned new things about yourself, your friends and the places you saw. Some of them will be become a second home.

There are a lot of reasons why roadtrips are a good idea but the main reason are the beautiful memories that come with it.

The Boy With The Cuckoo-Clock Heart – The Book That Made My Heart Go Cuckoo

Everyone who knows me, also knows that I love books and I love reading them every time I get the chance. Not so long ago I was wandering through a book shop (as I do so many times) and I found this little book that caught my eye called La Mécanique du cœur (The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart en.) by Mathias Malzieu. I bought it and said to myself that I’ll read a couple of chapters before doing some work for uni. Bad idea, because once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down.

mecanique_du_coeur_mathias_malzieu_clock

La Mécanique du cœur tells the story of Jack, a little boy with a clock instead of heart who falls in love with a young andalusian singer and decides to go on a journey in order to find her and confess his love.

I don’t want to give too much away but I honestly believe that it’s a book worth reading. You will fall in love with the characters and it will bring your inner child back to life.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book:

“We love each other like matches in the dark. We don’t talk, we catch fire instead ”

“If you spend your whole life being careful not to break anything, you’ll get terribly bored, you know … I can’t think of anything more fun than being impulsive.”

“What I’m afraid of? I’m afraid of you. Of me without you.”

Hope I made you just a little bit curious about the book and if you’re not into book reading there’s also a film adaptation, so you could see that instead.

And remember, it’s all about being happy, people!
